Hi, I am having a real problem here with launching KDE.
1. I tried to do startx it gave me the error fatal server error: could not open default font fixed 2. I read other newsgroups/redhat site that its a problem with xfs i then did /sbin/service xfs start response: Starting xfs: OK now i did /sbin/service xfs status it gave me: xfs dead but pid file exists hm.... I then did /sbin/service xfs restart response: Starting xfs: Shutting down xfs: FAILED Starting xfs: OK hm... It seems like some how the service is not functioning I then did startx, response was the same error. 1. Is there a way to fix the xfs? 2. If not, is there a way to run X WINDOWS without xfs? I dont know where to go from here. PLEASE HELP. I am a newbie so I would appreciate if you could not assume that I know much. Thank you. Dhruv P.S.
