Wrong guess. ;) You should check out the debian-powerpc and debian-user
mailing lists if you haven't already.

That's unlikely to be the actual problem. Are you using aty128fb in
console and Option "UseFBDev" for X? If that's not the problem, please
provide more information like the server log.
