Am I to understand it doens't work in 4.2?

The GVX1 uses the GLINT R3 processor as its' rasterizer.
Altough I don't see "r3" in the GLINT manual, you might
try listing the Gamma 1 processor of the GVX1 in the
device section (chipset "gamma") of your configuration
file and then take a look at the log file to see if X
auto probes and attaches the R3 anyway.

Failing that, what about trying to list it as a "pm3" or "pm4"?
I've heard somewhere that the GLINT R3 might be passed off as
a Permedia 3 in some situations.

Failing that again, you wouldn't have access to a GVX1 Pro,
would you? I do the see both the "r4" and "gamma2" listed in
the GLINT manual.
