Esse erro normalmente ocorre quando vc coloca o DefaultDepth para 16, por exemplo, e na lista de opções não tem uma resolução que sua pla suporte. Outra coisa que pode ocorrer é o Hsync e Vsync do seu monitor estarem errados. Procure no google esses valores para o seu monitor, ou consulte o manual.
