Hi again, sorry for cluttering up my own thread,
but I should have noticed/mentioned that these
are the *aout* libs that seem problematic.

thanks,
k.

====================================================================

Hi,

I just upgraded to 4.3 from 4.2.1
on FreeBSD-4.7-RELEASE.

Monitor: Iiyama au4831D (1600x1200)
Card: ATI Radeon 9000 pro (DVI cable)

(Config and log attached)

Now netscape (either 4.5, or 4.72) segv's
after hitting the accept button on the
license agreement. (Ktrace output isn't
terribly interresting.

I looked at the difference between
ldd between a working 4.2.1 box and
my 4.3 and found (shown with cksum):

< 4.2.1
4.3
< 2947364284 65536 /usr/X11R6/lib/aout/libXmu.so.6.0
< 1645345197 593920 /usr/X11R6/lib/aout/libX11.so.6.1
< 2435859105 36864 /usr/X11R6/lib/aout/libXext.so.6.3
---
3161820127 90931 /usr/X11R6/lib/aout/libXmu.so.6.2
857912993 841790 /usr/X11R6/lib/aout/libX11.so.6.2
3280640402 8903 /usr/X11R6/lib/aout/libXThrStub.so.6.1
6a7
1080470140 59482 /usr/X11R6/lib/aout/libXext.so.6.4

So newer versions are used. No biggie.

BUT - If I move aside the newer versions of
Xmu, X11, and Xext so that the old versions
are grabbed by the loader, netscape runs fine!

Any ideas how to make it work so fine with
newer libs? Couldn't find anything via google
or on freebsd/xfree86 sites.

thanks,
k.
