I'm running the latest version of Xfree86 in Debian Sid (4.2.1-6) on my
laptop. Directly after the switch to 4.2, in November or so, myself and
many others experienced an odd distortion of the colors when using the
trident_drv module. Fortunately, an updated module was made available
on http://www.xfree86.org/~alanh/. ...This solved the problem.
Unfortunately, during a recent apt-get upgrade, this trident_drv.o was
overwritten. Had I been thinking, I should have made a copy of the
module, or added a diversion to apt earlier. It seems someone else is
in my situation:
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg03320.html. However,
nobody provided the module in that thread. Sure, upgrading to XFree 4.3
is the best solution, but, it isn't always perfect for everyone. I will
wait to upgrade until the Debian X guys build the XF4.3 packages.
...They've done a great job so far, and I'd be much more confident in an
official Debian X package than one compiled by myself. Until XF4.3 is
available in Sid (Likely, quite some time from now -- It takes time to
get everything running on all those architectures), or I am provided the
corrected trident driver for XF4.2, I will be without X on my laptop.

If anyone has this module, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
