I assume you mean 4.5-stable?

It didn't crash, it exited with an error, apparently because of
misconfiguration.

Works just fine on my Mobility M4, and has since 4.2.0.

Looks like you need to set your HorizSync and VertRefresh options in
your Monitor section.  For my 1400x1050 laptop screen I have:
        HorizSync       28-90
        VertRefresh     40-110
