The pid files for RH are usually in /var/run If not you can do:

I have these clues: the /var/log/XFree86.0.log file, which ends with: "Could not init font path element unix/:7100, removing from list!" I've located the xfs files but haven't modified them. Changed nothing so far. When I try to restart I always get: "could not open default font 'fixed'. If I do this: /sbin/service xfs status I get the following: "dead but pid file exists". How can I (should I?) locate and kill that file/process? Can someone please help?
