Thanks for the gtf tip. It led to more progress... It now seems like X believes me that my display is 1440x900, and knows how to use that display.
However, for some reason it's was then imposing a virtual display size of 1440x960, not 1440x900, on me. I went into my config file and made these changes: 1. I commented out all my Screen-->Display-->Modes entries other than "1440x900" 2. I commented out all of my Monitor-->ModeLine entries, as they seemed to be describing hardware I don't have. When I restarted X, I finally have pefect behavior using 1440x900 mode. Thanks!!! PS - Any idea why it would have been giving me a virtual size of 1440x960? - Christian > > From: Mark Vojkovich <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: 2003/07/13 Sun AM 12:41:53 EDT > To: Christian Convey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: Re: [XFree86] semi-newbie: nVidia Go5200 FX trouble on Toshiba > laptop > > > You need a custom modeline since there's not a 1440x900 mode > built into the server.
