hi,
i recently installed a gentoo-disto on a pentiumII-system, since it has a
ati 3D Rage Pro i played a bit around with gatos-drivers to get Xv. it
seems to work somehow, but i encounterd some problems.

1. after a while i get some flickering on my monitor. It increases and
half an hour later or after i start emacs and edit a large file the screen
gets totally corrupted. i can switch back to the console, but restart of x
doesn't help, only reboot.

2. Xv seems to work for a short time while playing vids with mplayer, but
after some minutes the overlay-window gets black (or pink?) and Xv doesn't
works anymore.

has somebody encounterd similar problems? is there a workaround for this?
it seems to me like a mem-problem, mem-leak somewhere?
but i currently don't know how to track down memory consumption of X or
specially of the vid-mem, can somebody give me an advice on this?

Further im looking for docs about the modules in libextmod, as i don't
need f.e. screensaver stuff i want to exclude it from the list, but i
also want to know what the other (sub)modules are good for.
f.e. MIT-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD? or TOG-CUP?

my system:
gentoo-r5
libc-2.3.1.so
gcc-3.2.2
