I'm having trouble
with XFree86 4.3.0 and the ATI All-in-wonder radeon 7500 with DVI output. I am using a 15" Dell D825HT CRT Monitor. The following

I'm using the 4.3.0 driver from gatos.sourceforge.net. Even though the
website says not to mix different versions of the driver and X (ex:don't use driver 4.2.0 with X version 4.3.0), I tried it
anyway and X crashed at first with an error, similiar to the error as the 4.3.0
driver, but with a hint. The hint indicated that it couldn't
find a suitable LCD monitor and if you're using an analog CRT monitor, use
Option "CrtScreen". After trying the
previously stated option, X would start, but the video output was heavily
scrambled (not like cable scrambled, but more like a scramble when
trying a resolution of 800x600 on a monitor that only supports 640x480). I decided to dump the 4.2.0 drivers and went back to the 4.3.0
driver. However, the option "CrtScreen" seems no longer
functional. Also, it seems that the writers of the drivers,
gatos.sourceforge.net, don't exactly have a mailing list for problems.
All the research that I have done seems to have no
answers. If someone out there has any advice, please let me know.
