Recently I turned to this forum for two problems:
One was an uncontrollable mouse, which was fixed through config file corrections shown to me by one of you (Svein Erik).
The second was an unresponsive mouse. While I am still tracking down the whole story, I have found that killing and restarting gpm fix this. So it would seem not to be an X problem at all.
Thanks for help with the first and my apologies for bothering you with the second.
