Hi,

I've never used windows XP, but I've got a windows 98 system on
a partion, with cygwin and x.

If I remember correctly, (assuming you installed the X server), and
a window manager such as WindowMaker or twm, etc., I think I just
stated X from the prompt like:

$ X &   (starts X in background)
$ DISPLAY=:0.0
$ export DISPLAY
$ wmaker & (starts WindowMaker window manager in background)

You could subsitiute twm for wmaker, but there's no comparison!

Those directories with the % in them, hold the "packages" you installed.

John
