I have a Dell Optiplex SX270, with an intel 865 chipset (onboard
graphic). I had no luck with the 855patch program, as it works only for
the 855 chipset. At least it didn't work for my 865.

What worked for me was the following: downgrade the BIOS from version
A03 to A02. There is a option in the BIOS (press F2 at startup to access
the BIOS settings), which specifies how much memory to reserve for
graphics. This defaults to 1MB ([EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED]), but can be
set to 8MB. With this 8MB setting I have [EMAIL PROTECTED] running on my
computer without problems. The A03 version of the BIOS also lets you set
8MB, but it obviously has a bug and always reports 1MB to the X graphics
driver, even if you specify 8MB in the BIOS.

You can download the older BIOS verison from the Dell web-pages. To
install it, you need to boot into DOS (an old DOS floppy will do) and
start the downloaded exe-file, which will install the new BIOS.

Hope this helps,
