Hello List,
Since I've upgraded to Xfree86 4.4.0, I've had a few unexplained xserver crashes. Since nothing else is wrong and other than this everything works fine, I usually ignore them. It happened again a few minutes ago, I left the room and when I came back the server'd crashed. The only clues I have to go on are a bunch of "GetModeLine"'s on the screen, and (this time, but not always) this included logfile. This machine is a 9.1 Slackware Linux, 2.4 kern machine, with S3 Virge vga-compatible card. The monitor's origin (and make) are lost in the sands of second-hand time, but I've never had trouble with it. This X was from the binaries off the XFree86 site, not the Slackware distro one (same as the prior X install.) If anyone would like to take a peek at the log & config file, they're bzip2 compressed and attached. I'd sure like to understand why this happens, and what may be the cause.
