If you have, where did you put the XF86Config file? It is often placed here, "/etc/X11/XF86Config" and it sometimes has a different name, XF86Config-4. Finally, do you have the permissions set correctly on both the file itself and the directory? You will need to be able to have read permissions. Permissions are set using the chmod command.
