type this command ----> who -r you should see run-level 5 If you don't see it, that means you are not running at run level 5. RH automatically starts xfs at run level 5 You can change your inittab to default to run level 5 ----> id:5:initdefault: Or you can start it manual at your current run level ---> /etc/init.d/xfs start
