Yes, it would be a very desirable option.

That was a suggestion I was going to make, but decided that I was quite 
satisfied with the speed after "Birthday" that the i18n was implemented that I 
wouldn't push it.

Extremely!  While jvim does handle Unicode, it only auto-senses Shift_JIS, 
EUC-JP, or ISO-2022-JP (the three main Japanese encodings).  Japanese MS users 
would most likely want to retrieve files in Shift_JIS while most UNIX users 
would want them in EUC-JP.  (Ah, the wonders of multiple encodings for the same 
glifs!)

Nonetheless, if it isn't too much trouble, and I don't think it would break 
anything, then, yes, I'd greatly like to see this command line option.
