If you mean 5MB in a single document then that is definitely larger then we would recommend. If you mean 5MB in a collection then yes the server can handle much more then that. The largest collection I've seen so far was a little over 1 million documents and a little over 5GB in size. That pushes the limits of the server right now though. Documents should really be less then 50K in size or so, but there is no hard limit. Maybe 300-400K documents in a collection, again no hard limits and you need to use indexes. If you want to store larger documents you need more RAM and an increase in the memory available to the VM.
