Hi,

I've thinked a lot about this but i cannot find a good answer. Why has
XML:DB Api the concept of collections and "files" ?

has someone a good reason to use collection concept,

In Tamino you can restrict the content of a collection to one DTD/schema. Tamino uses the schema to optimize indices. So collections give you better performance, but less flexibility.

Is it possible in xindice to search a collection and all subcollections? I
don't think so. So what are subcollections good for?

I think it's like the java package structure. When importing foo.bar.package.* you don't import foo.bar.package.subpackage.* as well. It's just a matter of order.
