connection pool for xindice ?

Is there connection pool in xindice ?   In some past postings, people talked about ‘ColloectionPool’ class but I can’t find it in the xindice v1.1b4 API.   I am a newbie to xindice and was just wondering if there is any built-in mechanism to save some time on connecting by reusing the initial connection. It seems that the Addressbook example makes connection everytime it accesses xindice.
