It looks like the xindice.jar from 1.0 doesn't want to play with the runtime of Xindice 1.1b4, and vice versa, which make some sense. I think that is the biggest part of my problem. Is that possible, or even plausible since the interface might have changed some?   This would also explain why XMLdbGUI didn't want to play with the 1.1b4 version. Replacing some files in the lib directory of XMLdbGUI helped, it plays a little now...
