Okay, I have had to modify a lot of /etc stuff to make this proper. I
think it's time we put some userland into CVS. Can I appoint myself
overlord of installer/userland ?

BTW, everyone who can spare a box, set one up! AS soon as I get it to
allow me to log in as root, I'll be able to do a lot more, on my
development box.
