This common error usaually occurs when any service fails to start. I've had this error
after succesfully working with XMail on a testserver, and then installing it on a
productionserver without rereading the manual. It turned out I had accidently set the
XMail Root (both in the registry as the environmentvariable) to D:\mailroot\bin
instead of D:\Mailroot.
I've also seen this error when not all directories where present. Have you unzipped
everything, including the empty directories?

Succes,

I have been running xmail .74 for several months on backup test server -
works wonderful! When I try to use production server, WinNT Error 2140
happens.

All the settings seem very well - just like test unit - can anyone advise?
