I had the same problem when I got my ADSL connection.
There is not a great many "good-enough" firewalls easily accesible (i.e
Freeware/Shareware) for Windows

First I had the idea to run Firewall 1 as I know it from my work, but I had
not a good enough spare computer.
I tried Winroute Pro for a while, but it suck due to lack of stateful
inspection. It was a pain to configure all the ports needed for my Cisco VPN
connection to the office (as not mention all my games).
I looked a bit at Advanced Firewall from Deerfield (the creators of Wingate)
but it was in an early beta and didn't do NAT, apparently it needed to work
together with Wingate.
RRAS Is simply not an option if you want to do more than surfing and mail,
as it has the same limitation as Winroute.
You could of cause get a copy of Firewall 1 or MS ISA server or similar REAL
firewall, but they cost so much :)
In MS case you need a computer good enough to run a complete Win2k +
services, so it costs a lot even if you snag the CDs from the Office ;)

In my case, I went for the Linux + IPTables alternative, partly from
economical reason and partly from my wish to learn UNIX.

If you do not want to go for the complete Linux/UNIX solution, I would look
at http://www.freesco.com/. You need a 486 with 2 standard NICs, and you
even get a menu driven interface :p
Frankly, this seems to be the simplest solution, as a good, cheap and
lightweight firewall for Windows seems impossible to find :(
Probably because all Windows hobby-programmers (but for Davide ;)) are only
interested in building the 9375:th almost identical ftp client.

Best luck with your choise.
