Yes, but if the mail server is properly setup, the user will have to
POP-before-SMTP or AUTH in order to relay messages...

You can't because it'd be easily fakeable :

MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
DATA
Subject: Dinner tonight? ...
