Michael,
By default Xmail server will do the DNS lookup via the root-servers.net, not
via the OS configured resolver.
If you set Xmail to pass the request to the 'SmartDNSHost' then this would
help -> IF your current DNS works as u say it does.

Search the doco for SmartDNSHost

SmartDNSHost[TAB]dns.home.bogus.net:tcp
or
SmartDNSHost[TAB]127.0.0.1:udp
etc.

Personally I had issues with Xmail doing the lookups (vers 1.12) so I used
SmartDNSHost pointing to the localhost and that fixed it.
I am currently running 1.15, but have not changed the setting.
