I've been told that some filters may be run on a per-user basis. E.g., John Smith wants spam removed, Mark Brown wants it delivered with a tagged subject, Eileen Green wants all spam and no extra fee. You cannot distinguish until a ML/multiple recipients message has been exploded. If you want some filters to be run system-wide and as few times as possible, may be the best thing would be for XMail to be able to trigger filtering during SMTP conversation. There was a thread on this some time ago.
