Hello kalinga By default in 1.20 xmail distribution, the smtprelay.tab file is filed = with only local ips (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, ...) and server.tab option 'EnableAuthSMTP-POP3' set to 1. So, only 'local' machines can send without smtp authentication or = client software that perform a smtp session after 'time of last pop3 session' = + 'timeout specified in xmail cmd line parameter -Se (that defaults to = 900)' can be relayed by xmail.
Simply try to configure your client to do smtp authentication when = sending mail to the xmail server Francis > -----Message d'origine----- > De : kalinga [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Envoy=E9 : mercredi 15 septembre 2004 07:42 > =C0 : [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Objet : [xmail] 551 Server use forbidden - what should i do? >=20 >=20 > hi all, > Our brandnew xmail server is setup to handle "unionb.com" domain and > now it delivers > internal mails without any problems. >=20 > but when i try to send an email to an external ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) > domain, it send me > ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) an email with the following text. >=20 > (I can not receive emails from out side domains too!!!) >=20 > pls note: at the moment this server is not live. >=20 > ---------------> the email i recieved from the Xmail server=20 > <-------------- >=20 > [<00>] XMail bounce: [EMAIL PROTECTED];Error=3D[551 Server = use > forbidden - Please open http://www.xmailserver.test/smtp_errors.html > to get more information about this error] >=20 >=20 > [<01>] Error sending message [1095197973064.1337985968.1f5.smtp] from > [unionb.com]. >=20 > ID: <S278> > Mail From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Rcpt To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Server: <smtp> [192.168.1.4] >=20 >=20 > [<02>] The reason of the delivery failure was: >=20 > 551 Server use forbidden - Please open > http://www.xmailserver.test/smtp_errors.html to get more information > about this error >=20 >=20 > [<04>] Here is listed the message log file: >=20 > [PeekTime] 1095197973 : Tue, 14 Sep 2004 17:39:33 -0400 > << > ErrCode =3D -5 > ErrString =3D Timeout error > SMAIL SMTP-Send MX =3D "192.168.100.1" SMTP =3D "unionb.com" From =3D > "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" To =3D "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" Failed ! > SMTP-Error =3D "417 Temporary delivery error" > SMTP-Server =3D "192.168.100.1" >=20 > >>>> >=20 > [PeekTime] 1095198454 : Tue, 14 Sep 2004 17:47:34 -0400 > << > ErrCode =3D -81 > ErrString =3D [MAIL FROM:] not permitted by remote SMTP server > ErrInfo =3D 551 Server use forbidden - Please open > http://www.xmailserver.test/smtp_errors.html to get more information > about this error > SMAIL SMTP-Send MX =3D "192.168.1.4" SMTP =3D "unionb.com" From =3D > "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" To =3D "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" Failed ! > SMTP-Error =3D "551 Server use forbidden - Please open > http://www.xmailserver.test/smtp_errors.html to get more information > about this error" > SMTP-Server =3D "192.168.1.4" >=20 > >>>> >=20 >=20 >=20 > [<05>] Here is listed the initial part of the message: >=20 > Received: from unionb.com (192.168.100.45:1396) > by unionb.com with [XMail 1.20 ESMTP Server] > id <S278> for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; > Tue, 14 Sep 2004 17:39:32 -0400 > Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Wed, 15 Sep 2004 08:33:50 +0600 > From: Viraj Kalinga Abayarathna <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) > Gecko/20030624 Netscape/7.1 (ax) > X-Accept-Language: en-us, en, ja > MIME-Version: 1.0 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: test > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=3Dus-ascii; format=3Dflowed > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit >=20 > ------------------> End of the email from Xmail server <------------- >=20 > what should i do to rectify "551 Server use forbidden -" error? >=20 > thanks >=20 > --=20 > vk. > - > To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe xmail" in > the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > For general help: send the line "help" in the body of a message to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] >=20 - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe xmail" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line "help" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
