It sounds like a filter added on to XMail or something... unless you mean XMail is hanging on emails from Hotmail. I don't really understand the statement "mails from Hotmail are regularly caught as bad html" - I don't think XMail would do that unless you are talking about it actually crashing with Hotmail HTML email or something... can you clarify?
