I use ASSP withlut ClamAV, then the email is scanned by ClamSMTP WITH ClamAV. ASSP's implementation is less complete than ClamSMTP which does a deep scan. Then XMail gets the email for delivery. This has worked great up until XMail 1.24, but now I seem to be having time out problems with XMail. My guess is that 1.24 is slower with the SSL addition (even not using SSL) than 1.23 and that is cuaing it to hang.
Using ClamAV with ClamSMTP I have only had one virus in over three years get through, and that due to a failed update the night before.
