I've been using quite an old version of xmail (1.25) quite successfully for a couple of years on a Synology server.
It's been very reliable, but I get the odd message which sticks in the spool with the following error: >ErrCode = -163 >ErrString = Mail loop detected >Message blocked by mail loop check ! >SMTP-Error = "554 Message blocked by mail loop check" The thing is that I can't see why a mail loop has occurred as it was simply an incoming message to me. So my two questions are, can anyone explain why these messages get stuck when many other messages from the same senders get through? Secondly, is there any way to get these messages out of the spool? Simply resubmitting the email (using PHPXmail) doesn't help as the message simply gets marked with the same error again and stays in the spool. Below is the header from one of the problem emails. Just to explain, my ..com domain is the address of my server, whereas the .co.uk domain is handled by my ISP who scan the email for spam, then forward it to my .com address. _______________________________________________________________________ Frozen message 1267108382278.44089357.446.DiskStation, 21, 6 Xmail server: [194.153.0.53]:43576;[192.168.0.1]:25;Thu, 25 Feb 2010 14:33:02 -0000 bainb.co.uk S162DC MAIL From:<prvs=0672bedb3c=ang...@ctvob.co.uk> SIZE=881 RCPT TO:<g...@bainb.com> message header: Received: from technetium.cix.co.uk ([194.153.0.53]:43576) by bainb.co.uk with [XMail 1.25 ESMTP Server] id <S162DC> for <g...@bainb.com> from <prvs=0672bedb3c=ang...@ctvob.co.uk>; Thu, 25 Feb 2010 14:33:02 -0000 Received: (from r...@localhost) by technetium.cix.co.uk (8.11.3/CIX/8.11.2) id o1PEWvr28187 for g...@bainb.com; Thu, 25 Feb 2010 14:32:57 GMT Received: from jsmx16.nse.co.uk (jsmx16.nse.co.uk [217.18.90.69]) by technetium.cix.co.uk (8.11.3/CIX/8.11.2) with SMTP id o1PEWvk28181 for <gbainbri...@cix.conferencing.co.uk>; Thu, 25 Feb 2010 14:32:57 GMT Received: (qmail 6030 invoked from network); 25 Feb 2010 14:32:57 +0000 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.2.5 (2008-06-10) on jsmx16.nse.co.uk X-Spam-Status: No, score=0.0 X-Spam-Level: Received: from avs03.mx.cix.co.uk (212.241.168.147) by mx-clust2.junkscreen.com with SMTP; 25 Feb 2010 14:32:54 +0000 Received: from forward.a.hostedemail.com (forward.a.hostedemail.com [216.40.42.17]) by avs03.mx.cix.co.uk (8.13.8/8.13.4) with ESMTP id o1PEWpXM029903 for <gbainbri...@cix.co.uk>; Thu, 25 Feb 2010 14:32:54 GMT Received: from smtpin01.hostedemail.com (smtpin01.a.tucows.com [10.5.16.1] ) by ofarelay04.hostedemail.com (Postfix) with SMTP id 7C0ED18DBC4E for <gbainbri...@cix.co.uk>; Thu, 25 Feb 2010 14:32:51 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: g...@bainb.com X-FDA: 63276513342.01 X-Panda: scanned!
