Well as promised I've done some testing and Mike as absolutly right
xmame os slow:
mspacman-dos: 210 fps
mspacman-svgalib: 92 fps
But after a lott of tweaking of the blit routines:
mspacman-svgalib: 240 fps ;)
So what does this mean, yes xmame is slow, no it's not a fundamental
problem, it's just that the blit routines require quite a bit of work.
So I'm starting a big blit rewrite which won't be pretty and might take
a while, but I think the above numbers justify it to say the least.
