I guess that leaves me with little option but to write it in C, which I
have to admit I despise if only because the turnaround time while
debugging is so large. I'd write it in perl, but I know there's a lot
more xmame users out there with no perl than no bash, and it's a heck of a
lot larger download (than xmame even!)
