True. Considering how much is known about CPS-1 as well, it is not
unlikely that someone could mess with the sf2 driver until it worked with sfz.
I wish I could do it myself, but I have neither the time or knowledge to do
it.

Again, true. But since Razoola already plans on releasing the roms,
most people probably wouldn't bother (after all, emulating the encryption
would make the game run slower... at least a little). From what I've read
though, Razoola plans on releasing the roms rather slowly (And not releasing
anything newer than 1997 for quite a while)... wouldn't surprise me if someone
got fed up of waiting and did it themselves.

> Precisely why I'd like to see CPS-2 support in MAME (and thus xMAME).

Amen to that! As good as all the CPS-2 games are, I don't plan on
rebooting just to play them... though it may convince me to look into
VMware/plex86...

        Well, I don't know about that... There's still a Street Fighter 3
machine in the arcade in the engineering building at my university... and
there's also about 4 or 5 CPS-2 games in the university's real arcade. Even if
they don't get played as much as Gauntlet or whatever else, they still get
played. Of course, there's also a Metal Slug machine there, and I play that in
Mame without feeling guilty...

There's a company called Hanaho (URL anyone?) that released a CD a
while ago that had a bunch of CPS-1 roms on it that you could legally buy
(they had a deal with Capcom). It's quite possible that Hanaho might get the
rights for some of the older CPS-2 games from Capcom as well.

By the way, does anyone know when Street Fighter Zero came out?

There's a Sega System 32/Model 1 emulator in the works called Modeler.
It's very early in development though, and currently cannot display 3D
graphics (you can see the VF title screen and such though). If you want more
info, I think it's at www.impactemu.com
