Hi,

I guess this isn't really xmame specific, but I guess people here may know
how to help me out :-) I just bought a Logitech gamepad, the "Wingman
Cordless" (quite an impressive beast, and not that expensive!) to use
exclusively with xmame, but I simply can't get it to work.
Seems to me that it's more of an OS or driver problem : I also just bought
an USB mouse and it worked straight ahead, and "cat /proc/input/mice" shows
me strange stuff when it moves, just as expected. I'm running Red Hat Linux
7.3 and for the USB gamepad, here is what I see :

[ from the kernel messages ]
hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/2, assigned device number 3
usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 3, frame# 821
input1: USB HID v1.10 Joystick [Logitech WingMan Cordless Gamepad] on
usb1:3.0

But trying to access /dev/input/js0 or others gives me just "No such file
or directory" messages. Is there a way to know if this gamepad is actually
supported by Linux? I'm running 2.4.18-4. Is there a way to see which
major/minor numbers the gamepad is mapped to? I've never owned a single
joystick/joypad ever since the one for my Apple II, so I'm a bit lost! ;-)

Thanks for any pointers or advice, I just hope I won't need to bring it
back to the shop :-(

Matthias
