Howdy.

This is the same problem I was having with the initial
releases of Xv. At the time we pointed the finger at my
old version of XFree and Xv. Now it's 4.2.1 and the problem
is the same.

Running with -xv the copyright/any-key screen is grey with
white garbled (unreadable) text. The game screen is all
unreadable and scan-liney, with 4 seperate (but intermixed)
versions on the screen or in the window. (It's the same in a
window as -fullscreen) When you exit the game xmame finishes
with a Segfault.

Running with -noxv gives an error unless I also do -noartwork.
(needs 32bit display, but only has 16 bit)

incidently, I just ran tempest (fails as above), but with
"-noxv -x11 1 -fullscreen" brings down X on game exit.
(but works ok otherwise)

I've tested numerous vector games - bzone, astdel1, tempest, llander
and they all behave the same.

any ideas ?

System: Unmodified Mandrake 9 (2.4.19 kernel), Matrox G550,
XFree 4.2.1, Athlon 1400, 1.5G RAM, 16 bit desktop at 1920x1440.
