Well I'm glad someone else has problems with
the voodoo 3.

Not to unmotivate you but I gave up trying run mame
under linux I just boot to windows.

In my case I'm pretty sure its the bit blitting code
that's the problem. I was using cyberball which has
a large resolution. If I covered half the window so
only half the bits needs to be blitted the FPS would
max out but with either full screen or windowed I
only got about 20 fps. And yes I did all the DRI
optimization and everything I think of and advise
from this list.

I posed this question to the list and never liked the
answer. Why should I need a special version of the program
to get hardware acceleration. I don't have to do this under
windows. And bit blitting is the most basic graphic
operation there is.

Sorry to put out the flamebait but like I said I got
frustrated and just use windows for mame.

You are right, but you named first the DRI thing =)

I don't know what to say, i've just tried aerofighter and is up the 120 fps
running in a windows (using DGA is a little faster, but there is a problem
during the resolution switch).
