It's a Toshiba DynaBook V4/493PMHW with a Trident Cyberblade Ai
(according to the Windows XP driver shipped with the laptop). It goes by
DynaBook in Japan and by Satellite Pro in the rest of the world. Just
stay away from Trident Cyberblade and the like. However, I'm quite happy
because I managed to run all the hardware in Linux but I had to use
kernel (at least) 2.4.19 with the ACPI patch and there is an accelerated
driver for X (which I think is included now in version 4.3.0).

BTW, I just tried the stretching option and I get the same result under
DGA (no stretching at all). Oddly enough the text console *is* stretched
and looks like crap, so I suppose there's no such thing as filtering,
although it doesn't matter much. Of course I get the 3-4 pixel
displacement as always.

So next step will be to try to connect the laptop to a PROPER monitor
through the CRT output and I want to check out also if it's possible to
do it to a TV through the AV output. A TV is supposed to be fixed
frequency, isn't it?

Thanks to everyone. CATHODE TUBES FOREVER! ;)
