There's your mistake. Uncomment the "Linux x86 Joystick driver" instead (yes, even if you are not on a x86). Then use -jt 4 (is it really 4? not 100% sure, can't check right now).
Hmmmm, maybe it's time to rename JOY_I386. :-)
