xmame.xgl -jt 1 -jdev /dev/input/js0 <rom>
First of all, you _probably_ want to use -jt 4
Second of all, you don't want to specify a joystick device. You want to specify the PREFIX. so, -jdev /dev/input/js
Then xmame will look at all files starting with /dev/input/js, instead of all files starting with /dev/input/js0 (only one file to look at)
