Anyways my biggest question is what is the correct way to handle the bios display, is there a standard for this?

The current standard way is to always display each monitor. The dos version allows you to specify a resolution and a start column/row to display. you can then pan with the page up/down keys. I have no idea if a hack would be accepted in to the main code. Part of the reason for resisting hacks in this area is that really everyone wants the ability to seperate the rendering of each monitor properly & allow the OSD to place them appropriately ( including hiding them ). It's a lot of work though.
