it is a design mistake in your solution. The parser cannot detect the end of the document: [1] document ::= prolog element Misc* [27] Misc ::= Comment | PI | S at the end of the root element the document can contain an unbounded amount of extra content. The process feeding the parser must indicate the end to the parser. It's incredible that after 15 years of XML usage people are still doing the same basic mistakes.
