In a recent Washington Post interview I was quoted by Claude Bauer
as describing the current XML landscape as being "like the Wild West".

I was thinking more of people stacking out claims to uncharted
expanses of priare. However:

Susan Scrupski-Miranda puts another spin on this:

http://forum.aspnews.com/general/keynotes/SS0001.htm

Excerpt:

"Counsel is coming in a steady stream of sound bites.
Yesterday's pop wisdom - "If you build it, they will come"
has morphed into, "They're coming; Build Something!".

I can't but help be reminded of many earlier instances
of software development - and the classic cartoon of
a roomful of programmers, with the analyst stepping out
the door with the comment being thrown back into the
room - "You all start coding, and I'll go and find out
what the users want".

The more things change - the more they stay the same.
