I'd suggest you to turn off "Add open lines" in Save options, this makes text saved by XXE IMHO much for manual editing. I wonder if "Add open lines" could be by default OFF? I think it is a matter of taste, but "Add open lines" IMHO decreases readability of XML sources generated by XXE adding all those extra new line characters and also enlarging the files itself.
