Same for checking cross-references. Most of the time we concentrate on what we are writing and from time to time (once per day), we open the master document to check that everything is OK. ------------------------------------------ I strongly disagree. If the XmlMind documentation set is anything to go by, I would say you don't worry too much about link validation because the documentation you write isn't particularly "link-rich". Big documents don't just simplify validation of links, but also *creation* of links. If (like me) you are writing documentation that makes heavy use of links, then you end up with a very large set of possible target IDs, far more than you can easily remember (however well-structured the ID names are). You then want to be able to choose target IDs from an autogenerated list, which is easy to do if your whole document is a single file. I only make single chapter/section documents if I want to re-use a chapter in several manuals. Regards, Kevin Flynn Escenic AS, Oslo
