Hello Mr. Shafie and all at XMLmind,
Thanks for making XXE such a superb XML editor. I have used it professionally
every day for the last two and a half years, and would not want to work without
it.
I am sorry to report that on Windows 7, XXE is failing to show the buttons at
the top of the Open File dialog. I have experimented with different desktop
themes and colors, and the result is always the same: the buttons do not
appear.
Here is a comparison of the top of the Open File dialog of XXE 4.5.0
Professional on three versions of Windows. All three instances of XXE were
installed from the same setup file.
32-bit Windows XP Professional SP3
64-bit Windows Vista Business SP2
64-bit Windows 7 Professional (also seen on 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate)
The thing is, the buttons are actually right where they should be, and can be
used normally once you know where to click. It is only the button bitmaps that
are missing. When I hover the mouse over the positions where the buttons should
be, the tooltip pops up and the outline of the button shows up:
I use the JRE that's shipped with XXE to run XXE. The File Open dialog of all
other Java-based applications exhibits normal behavior on Windows 7, including
Eclipse 3.5, Aptana 1.5, Oxygen 11, and my employer's Eclipse-based product.
While I have your attention on the Open File dialog, can you
please-please-please make it remember its size if we resize it? I use the
Windows and Linux versions, and would love to see that behavior on both. We
have certain directories with lots of files, and to see them all without
scrolling, we have to resize the Open File dialog every. single. time.
