XXE and XDR must agree on the MIME types of indexed documents. Latest
XXE saves DITA topics as "application/x-dita+xml;format=dita". Latest
XDR automatically indexes "application/x-dita+xml;format=dita" documents.

If you mix a new version of XXE with an old version of XDR, then may be
DITA topics will not be automatically indexed.

If you customized the DITA topic configuration in any way[*] and forgot
to specify mimeType="application/x-dita+xml;format=dita", then DITA
topics will not be automatically indexed.

I've re-tested XXE v4.6.1 with XDR v1.1.0_02 and it works fine.

[*] We'll re-check that:

* DITA topic configuration templates found in
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/configure/customizing.html

AND

* ``automatic customizations'' (e.g. "Options|Customize
Configuration|Change Document Conversion Parameters") of DITA topic
configurations

all bear mimeType="application/x-dita+xml;format=dita",
