XMLmind XML Editor is very straightforward to use. There are very few
``concepts'' you need to remember in order to never be stuck with the
editor.
Therefore, inserting a text node after an element is done by selecting
"Edit|Insert After" (Ctrl-J), then choosing "(text)" from the list
displayed by the Edit tool.
The keyboard shortcut which corresponds to this sequence is: INSERT (AKA
the "Ins" key)
These basics are explained in this tutorial:

Please search there for *3-star* keyboard shortcuts. If you don't know
all these 3-star keyboard shortcuts, this means that you are not yet
productive when using XMLmind XML Editor.
