Hi,

this is the screenshot.
Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you for your help.

What I see is pretty ugly (aside Java's very poor emulation of the Gnome Look&Feel).

It seems that, when using Ubuntu on a HiDPI screen:

(1) Unlike what happens by default on a Mac Retina, Ubuntu does not automatically upscale XXE GUI. Hence tiny text and icons.

(2) Someone or something has adjusted the base font size of Java Swing components. Hence normal size for most Java Swing buttons and menu items. I said "most" because this is not done for the label of a titled border (which is also a "native" Java Swing component).

Please be kind enough to tell me if it's you, Camille, or the Java runtime who did (2).

I'm asking you this because it's possible to adjust the base font size of Java Swing components using:

Options|Preferences, General section, "Font size" combobox.

See http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/generalOptions.html

PS: Similarly it's possible to adjust the base font size of the styled document view using:

Options|Preferences, View section, "CSS stylesheet defaults" subsection, "Default font size" combobox.

See http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/viewOptions.html#cssDefaults

You should try that. This should improve the usability of XXE on your computer.

Best regards,

Camille.

Hi Hussein,

I can send you screenshots of XXE running under Ubuntu on a PC with a
retina display too.

Thanks! A screenshot of your desktop (not scaled down by the screen
capture software; i.e. something large like 2500px x 1500px)
containing XXE displaying text and images would certainly help to
motivate us to fix the problems.

Cheers,

Camille.
